Everything we know about GTA VI…So far
Whether you remember the glory days of Vice City or GTA 5 was your first real taste of Los Santos, one thing is clear — we’ve been waiting a long time for GTA 6.
After 13 years since GTA 5’s release, multiple delays, and endless leaks and speculation, Rockstar’s next masterpiece is finally on the horizon. With a confirmed release date of November 19, 2026 on consoles, the hype is at an all-time high.
While we can’t make the wait any shorter, we can get you fully prepared. In this guide, we break down everything we know so far — from confirmed features and gameplay to the PC specs you’ll likely need when the game finally arrives on PC.
Release Date & Platforms
Console Release: November 19, 2026 (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S)
PC Release: Expected sometime in 2027 (exact date not confirmed yet, but Rockstar usually releases PC versions 1–2 years after consoles)
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 for consoles. (With every pre-order you receive 1 month of GTA +, which auto-renews)
Editions
Standard Edition £69.99 - The base game with the full story and online experience.
Ultimate Edition £89.99 - Includes extra content such as premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and additional in-game bonuses. This edition is designed for players who want the deepest and most immersive GTA VI experience from day one!
Rockstar has confirmed the game will launch first on consoles, following their usual pattern of bringing the PC version later with enhanced graphics, better performance, higher resolutions, and full mod support.
The Setting & Story
The game is set in a modern, vibrant version of Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida (Rockstar’s take on Florida).
Two playable protagonists: Jason and Lucia — the first time a GTA game has featured a female lead.
The story appears to focus on a Bonnie and Clyde-style criminal duo with a heavy emphasis on relationship dynamics and crime in a contemporary setting.
Expect a much larger and more detailed open world than GTA 5, with improved weather systems, day-night cycle, and highly reactive NPC behaviour.
Gameplay Features & Improvements
Significantly improved graphics and realism, including advanced lighting, physics, and environmental detail.
Better AI for both pedestrians and law enforcement, making the world feel more alive.
New gameplay mechanics, including expanded role-playing elements and more interactive environments.
Bigger focus on storytelling and character development.
Likely to include a brand new version of GTA Online with more features and social elements.
Will GTA 6 have an online mode?
It’s a question on everyone’s minds. After all, GTA 5’s revolutionary online mode has been a great success, with a daily average of over 60,000 players in 2026. While Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed an online mode for GTA 6, it’s very likely that we’ll see one at some point. The real question is whether it will launch on day one or arrive later as a separate update.
PC Performance Expectations
Although official PC requirements haven’t been released yet, based on the console versions and Rockstar’s history with previous titles, here’s what you’ll likely need for a good experience:
Recommended GPU: RTX 4070 or better for smooth 1440p / RTX 4080 or RX 7900 XTX for 4K with ray tracing
CPU: Ryzen 7 7700X or Intel Core i7-13700K and above
RAM: 32GB DDR5 minimum (64GB recommended for maximum settings and future-proofing)
Storage: NVMe SSD with at least 150GB free space (the game is expected to be very large)
If you want the game to run at high settings with ray tracing and high frame rates, a strong modern PC will make a big difference.
Should You Build a PC Now or Wait?
Many players will enjoy the game on console first and upgrade their PC later. However, building a strong PC now means you’ll be ready for the best version of GTA 6 with higher resolutions, better mods, and smoother performance from day one.
At Poulton PC, I can help you build a system that will handle GTA VI beautifully when it arrives — whether you want a mid-range rig or a full high-end beast.
